Word analogies

The Passion of the Christ is to the gospels as Troy is to...

Just kidding.  Honestly though, everyone who said things like, Mel can make whatever kind of movie he wants, and if he wants to put Satan in the Garden of Gethsemane, even though Luke's gospel says an angel from heaven appeared to him and gave him strength, that's his artistic right.*  So if whoever directed Troy wants to kill off someone who shouldn't be killed off, should we get upset, or give him the same courtesy we gave Mel?

So, I enjoyed Troy.  If you want to know everything that's wrong with it, go here (link courtesy of Doxos.)  I knew it probably wouldn't be very faithful to the Iliad, but I was in the mood for a rousing, epic adventure and I wasn't disappointed.

Speaking of word analogies, I've signed up for the GREs.  Yes, for all my talk about grad school, I am finally taking a step in that direction.  Now I get to spend my summer reviewing math that I have long since forgot.  Ugh.  I hate math.

*or that when Jesus died, an earthquake split the temple in two, even though the Synoptic gospels only say that the curtain of the Temple was torn in two, which is quite different theologically.  [Insert other discord between gospels and Mel's movie here]

Didn't see The Movie, so can't really say what sort of discord there is between it and the Gospels, which, I've been told, are merely slap-dash attempts at mythologizing the charisma of the ever so ethical Jesus. Which is really why the Gospels are not as cool as the Iliad.

Have fun with the GRE. Stock up on beer and stuff for later...

Peace.
