Hey, guess what I didn't do last night? I didn't go to the U2 concert here in Chicago!!! Couldn't get tickets. But I did babysit for friends who went, and that's the next best thing, right? Right?
I'm too lazy to do a round-up, but almost everyone is talking about sex, so click away on the links on my blog roll; I'm sure you'll find a discussion somewhere.
I realize I have only two days before the Easter season ends and I haven't finished reading Resurrection. We'll see if I can manage it or not. It's just that the baby books I have are more interesting right now. No offense, Lord. But my goodness, there's certainly as many controversies or arguments among the different books as there are among theologians. You think Luther and Pope Leo X had some issues? You ain't heard nothing until you've read Sears vs. Ferber.
There are no communities of women anymore who initiate new mothers into
shared child-rearing practices. And so, child-rearing, as with everything
else, becomes a matter of technique.
For resisting this tendency and promoting a instinctual, attachment-based style of parenting, Sears gets the nod over Ferber from here. My wife and I used to tell our babies that if they continued what they were doing, we would "ferberize" them.
